President Rodrigo Roa Duterte urged other political leaders to cooperate in his administration’s programs and policies as he graced the Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte-National Executive Coordinating Committee (MRRD-NECC) National Convention at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
“Kalimutan na natin ‘yung mga partido-partido. Partnership na lang tayo,” he said.
The President underscored that the welfare of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) will be a priority, saying that the government’s efforts and programs are geared for their betterment.
“Kaya ako sinisikap ko ang bayan ko aangat para naman ho… not really rich but an opportunity to work here at dito naman maski ganun lang tayo, hindi talaga ako papayag na ganunin sila. Never. Hindi ako papayag,” he stressed.
“Ang una kong condition is ang passport ng Pilipino huwag kunin ng kanyang empleyado. Hostage ‘yan eh,” President Duterte added.
The Chief Executive also reiterated his stance against graft and corruption, indicating that a number of government officials who were allegedly involved in the practice were already axed.
“Una sinabi ko, pag nanalo ako ayaw ko talaga ng graft and corruption. Magprangkahan tayo. Ayaw ko talaga ‘yan kaya lahat nasabit diyan, halos kalahati na, kasama ko pa sa kampanya,” he said.
A volunteer movement that was originally founded as the ‘Marco Polo 15,’ the MRRD-NECC aims to support President Duterte’s advocacies against illegal drugs, graft and corruption, and criminality. The movement also pushes for a federal form of government to support the development of different regions in the country.
Presently, the group membership consist of around two million volunteers across the country, which is composed of Filipinos from various sectors and classes campaigning for a positive change in the Philippines.
