Opening of ONE Mindanao: Organic and Natural Expo

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the opening of ONE Mindanao: Organic and Natural Expo at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City.

The expo highlighted the gathering of producers, processors, and entrepreneurs to showcase Mindanao’s organic and natural food products and ingredients such as vegetables, fresh fruits, spices and herbs, colored rice, sweeteners, local artisan chocolates, and local coffee. The event also showcased the rich cultural heritage of the different tribes and indigenous peoples of Mindanao through their natural and traditional fibers and weavers.

The exhibitors in the event came from the different regions all over Mindanao namely, Region IX, Region X, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), Region XI, CARAGA Region, and Region XI.

President Duterte went around the ONE Mindanao exhibit stalls wherein a total of sixty (60) exhibitors and five (5) weavers participated.

The three-day expo from March 17-19, 2018 was organized by the Department of Agriculture (DA) through its Regional Field Office XI in cooperation with the Office of the Undersecretary for Agribusiness and Marketing, and the Regional Engagement, Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service with the Office of Senator Loren Legarda.

Meantime, the Organic and Natural Expo for Visayas is set in 2019 while the Luzon event is scheduled in 2020 to increase the public’s awareness on the benefits and availability of natural and organic products in the market.

President Duterte was joined in the event by Senator Cynthia Villar of the Committee on Agriculture and Food, DA Undersecretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, and DA Regional Director Ricardo Onate, Jr.
