President Rodrigo Roa Duterte graced the Opening Ceremony of the National Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) Challenge at the Team Davao Inc. Pistol and Rifle Range in Davao City.
The National SWAT Challenge is a three-day competition from March 1-3, 2018 that would test the skills and capabilities of all participating SWAT Teams in handling practical and realistic simulation courses, including life threatening armed engagements.
Participants to the National SWAT Challenge included the Philippine National Police (PNP) SWAT units from the National Headquarters (NHQ), Command Group, Directorial/Personal Staff (CG-DPS), National Support Units (NSUs), Police Regional Offices (PROs), and the five (5) Police Districts of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
In the event, President Duterte participated in a ceremonial shoot wherein he used a 5.56mm caliber rifle.
In his message, the President emphasized the significance of the national event, saying, “This three-day competition not only showcase skills and capabilities of the participants but would also promote camaraderie, sportsmanship and competitiveness among our police and military personnel”.
“To the participants, kayo, I wish you good luck as you compete with your law enforcer partners,” President Duterte added.
Officials from the PNP, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and Team Davao Inc. members also attended the opening ceremony of the National SWAT Challenge.
