President Rodrigo Roa Duterte welcomed former Polish President and Nobel Laureate Lech Walesa in a courtesy call at the Study Room in Malacañan Palace, Manila.

The former Polish President is visiting the Philippines to primarily give a lecture at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P).

Former President Walesa served as Poland’s President from 1990 to 1995 and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983 for his accomplishments as a labor activist, specifically for his role in the crafting of a groundbreaking agreement on labor rights.

President Duterte was joined in the event by Presidential Spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque, Jr. and several officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

On the other hand, former President Walesa was accompanied by Polish author Maciej Podhajski, Gusi Peace Prize Chairman and former Northern Marianas Honorary Ambassador Barry Gusi, former Philippine Senator Dr. Orly Mercado, and other Polish delegates.
