President Rodrigo Roa Duterte attended the ceremonial turnover of 26 units of Mitsubishi patrol vehicles and the inauguration of the new Regional Crime Laboratory Office (RCLO) XI building at Ecoland in Davao City.

The Japan International Cooperation System (JICS), in coordination with the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Directorate for Logistics, turned over the patrol vehicles to the Davao City Police Office.  During the program, President Duterte witnessed the ceremony led by H.E. Koji Haneda, Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines, to PNP Director-General Ronald Dela Rosa.

The ceremonial turnover took place alongside the inauguration of the new RCLO XI building.  The “Mega Crime Lab” is a state-of-the-art crime laboratory that aims to cater to the six (6) police regional offices in Mindanao and provide better assistance to all crime investigation works.

President Duterte led the unveiling of the RCLO XI building marker with the assistance of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Eduardo Año, PNP Director-General Ronald Dela Rosa, PNP XI Regional Director P/CSupt. Manuel Gaerlan, and RCLO XI Chief P/SSupt. Georby Manuel.

In his keynote address, the President expressed his gratitude to the Japanese government for its donation to the PNP Region XI and its continuous support to the Philippine government, saying, “These units will allow our police to more competently perform their duties as well as enable the police in the Region Office XI to ensure peace and order in Davao Region…  Again, we are truly grateful to the people and the Government of Japan for their unwavering support for this administration and the Filipino people.”

He also shared his views on the newly inaugurated RCLO XI building, stating, “The new Regional Crime Laboratory Office XI building and a newly acquired state-of-the-art crime lab equipment will ensure faster delivery to forensic services not only within the Davao region but the entire Mindanao.”

“I am confident that our PNP personnel in Davao region will now be able to perform their duties more effectively,” President Duterte added.

The President was joined in the event by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, PNP officers, and other local government officials.
