President Rodrigo Roa Duterte met with the members of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to assess the damages brought by Typhoon Vinta.

In the briefing, President Duterte conveyed his condolences to the victims of the disaster and assured the local government officials that his administration will fast track the rehabilitation of the agricultural sector and restore the lives of the people to normalcy.

“But the money, I said, is already appropriated. It’s in the departments concerned and I will just order them to come here and do their thing, in whatever aspect they are supposed to deal with,” he said.

The Chief Executive also answered queries and concerns from local government officials and promised to attend to them by tasking government agencies like the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Department of Agriculture (DA).

“I hope that our visit here would assure the Governor that we are as much worried as you and we will help. That’s why I’m here, part of my job. We are all workers of government and we will see to it that, yung ipinangako namin dito matupad kaagad,” he added.

Likewise, President Duterte mentioned that he is looking forward for a positive start in the year 2018.

“I just hope that next year Allah would be kind enough to give us a new beginning. I just hope that it would turn out that way,” he said.

Prior to the briefing, the President did an aerial inspection of the flooded and damaged areas in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental.
