President Rodrigo Roa Duterte reiterated that he would fulfill his campaign promises of eliminating graft and corruption, illegal drugs, and criminality as he graced the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) – Laban Christmas Benefit Dinner for Marawi City at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila in Pasay City.

The President mentioned that Islamic extremism and those who lost power in the Middle East might target Mindanao soon that could disrupt law and order in the country. He also gave a stern warning to these extremists and those involved in illegal activities such as communist rebels and illegal drug syndicates.

“Do not destroy the Philippines. Do not destroy the youth of our land because they are the only assets that we have,” he said.

President Duterte also called on the PDP-Laban members to unite in helping the administration accomplish its goals and urged them “to protect the Filipino and maintain and preserve the Republic of the Philippines.”

The fund-raising dinner, led by President Duterte, Senate President Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III, and House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, is one of the efforts of the PDP-Laban in its active role to support various campaigns for the betterment of the country. The proceeds of the event will be given to aid the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the war-torn Marawi City.
