President Rodrigo Roa Duterte graced the launching of TienDA Farmers and Fisherfolks Outlets, Asian Food Market at the Abreeza Mall in Davao City.

The project is a partnership between the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Ayala Malls (Accendo Commercial Corporation). Region XI served as the host of the project launch in the Mindanao cluster.

The TienDA outlets were previously launched in various places within Luzon and Visayas, including the Bureau of Plant and Industry (BPI) Compound in San Andres, Malate, Manila, and at the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Compound in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

During the event, President Duterte witnessed the tying of the rope of the two partner agencies.

In his speech, the President articulated his expectations on the project, saying, “I hope that the TienDA Farmers and Fisherfolks Outlets will open doors for greater opportunities for our kababayans towards a better and brighter future. Let us strive to make this happen.”

The project launch is an initial step of the administration to make food available and affordable for all Filipinos, apart from supporting the agricultural producers through the dismantling of the so-called cartels that control the supply and prices of agricultural products.

There are 12 TienDA booths in the Ayala Mall offering a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, seafood, and other farmers’ produce from the Mindanao region.
