This is a special feature about the beautiful Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan including its strong potential tourism value and how it can contribute to local economic development. “One Boracay One Island” also shows the state of Boracay’s continuing environmental degradation, most particularly the condition of its marine ecosystem because of illegal structures, violated environmental laws and restrictions and sand erosion, among others.

This also features the CODE BLUE Boracay Coral Reefbud Project being undertaken by the Sangkalikasan Producers Cooperative aiming to rehabilitate and restore more than 95% of the damaged coral reefs in the island through its artificial reefbuds. It is a partnership of various alliances in the island and the national government that are working to save this national asset from further destruction.
