President Rodrigo Roa Duterte graced the 25th founding anniversary of the Center for Brighter Beginnings, Inc. and celebrated with its alumni at the Davao Convention and Trade Center in Davao City.
The Center for Brighter Beginnings, Inc. (CBB) started in 1992 when its founder and school director, Rossa Charissa Gavino, turned a leased apartment into a classroom. It had an initial eight (8) students. After 25 years, the learning center has three (3) buildings with seven (7) classrooms and a student population of 240.
In the event, the CBB alumni showcased their talents in singing and dancing through a grand musical show. A significant highlight of its silver year celebration is the CBB’s partnership with the City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) for a Teacher-Training Workshop on Early Literacy, Beginning Reading, and Handwriting for the 670 CSSDO day care workers in Davao City.
President Duterte was shown an audio-visual presentation (AVP) on the implementation of the training-workshop program participated by the following areas: Toril and Talomo B (Day 1); Childminding Center 1, Agdao, Marilog, Talomo A, Baguio, Preschoolers and Children’s Concern Division (Day 2); Paquibato, Childminding Calinana, Cbantian, Buhangin, City of Poblacion B (Day 3); Bunawan, Tugbok (Day 4); and Buhangin, City Poblacion A (Day 5).
In his speech, the President expressed his gratitude to the CBB for its achievements and contributions to the community. “The Center for Brighter Beginnings has contributed greatly to the formative years of their alumni. Many of who are now playing significant roles as partners in nurturing communities and building lives. I congratulate you for a job well done. Chari, thank you for continuing endeavor to ensure that our children get the best quality of learning that they need in order to become competent, responsible, and dignified citizens in the future,” President Duterte said.
