President Rodrigo Roa Duterte lauded the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) for providing comfortable cells for the internees during his talk to troops at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Multi-Purpose Center of the Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.

“Okay ang sitwasyon. They’re comfortable, clean, and satisfied by the way it is being run by the BJMP. So I would like to congratulate… for a job well done so far,” he said.

During his speech, the President vowed to provide a television set for each and every cell and assured to provide for the necessary advancement of security system of the agency.

“I came to just observe. Tingnan ko ang sitwasyon ng mga presuhan. At okay naman sila. And I’m happy. And of course, we would want to give them everything pero ang nasabi ko sa kanila, each and every selda would have a TV by the end of the month. ‘Yan na lang ang maibigay ko muna… What you really lack, as I see it, having been a local government employee once upon a time, ay yung mga sasakyan. And maybe when you need upgrade sa inyong mga security apparatus, you will have it. I assure you. Next year,” he added.

After his speech, the Commander-in-Chief had a photo opportunity with the BJMP Command group, director of directorates, chief of offices, regional directors, and personnel.

Prior to the talk to troops, President Duterte convened with the BJMP key officers and command group, regional directors and selected jail wardens in a situation briefing, toured the facilities of Metro Manila District Jail (MMDJ) Annex 1, and visited the city prisoners detained at the building.

Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, Taguig City Mayor Maria Laarni Cayetano, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Officer-in-Charge Secretary Catalino Cuy, Philippine National Police – National Capital Region Police Office (PNP-NCRPO) Regional Director P/CSupt. Oscar Albayalde, and BJMP Acting Chief J/CSupt. Deogracias Tapayan accompanied the President.
