President Rodrigo Roa Duterte arrived at the Tactical Operations Group (TOG) XI in Davao City after attending the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Accession to the Throne of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah in Brunei Darussalam.

On October 5, 1967, His Majesty became the Sultan of Brunei at the age of 21 following the voluntary renunciation of his father, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien.

President Duterte was accompanied in Brunei Darussalam by Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Carlos Dominguez III, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar, PCOO Assistant Secretary Esther Margaux Uson, Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary Enrique Manalo, Deputy Executive Secretary for Finance and Administration Rizalina Justol, and Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Meynardo Montealegre.
