July 20, 2017

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visited five (5) wounded-in-action (WIA) Presidential Security Group (PSG) members at the Camp Panacan Station Hospital in Davao City.

The wounded PSG personnel were part of the two-vehicle convoy – a black Nissan and a white Ford – en route to Cagayan de Oro City when they were blocked by around 100 members of the New People’s Army (NPA) clad in military uniform at Kampo Uno, Arakan, North Cotabato on July 19, 2017 (6:15 am).  A firefight ensued between the ten PSG members and the NPA rebels, resulting to the five WIA PSG personnel.

They were immediately brought to the German Doctors Hospital in Buda, Marilog District, Davao City and identified as SSg. Arniel Matunhay, SSg. Jerry Torsal, Cpl. Rodel Ledesma, Cpl. Ayam Alia, and SSg. Rolito Lisondra.

During the hospital visit, President Duterte awarded them with the Wounded Personnel Medal and provided each PSG member with PhP 10,000 cash assistance and cellular phones.
