Paniqui and Capas, Tarlac

President Benigno S. Aquino lll led the distribution of relief good packages to flood-stricken families in the towns of Paniqui and Capas in Tarlac province.
While checking the situation of his fellow Tarlakenyos , the President said that his government will support them and ensure that their basic needs are being supplied. He also instructed Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson to immediately reconstruct the damaged Bangud Bridge in Capas.
A total of 205 families were given with rice, assorted canned goods and 3-in-1 coffee sachets at Brgy. Apulid Evacuation Center in Paniqui. These families which are mostly residing in Sitio Katuray and Sitio Kamanggahan still cannot return to their houses drowned in chest-deep flood water.
Meanwhile, 155 families benefitted from the family food packs distributed by the President at Sta. Lucia Elementary School in Capas.
Tarlac province is one of the places badly-hit by the heavy downpour of the southwest monsoon. A total number of 15,465 families and 72,729 persons in 91 barangays were affected by the onslaught.
According to Tarlac Vice Governor Pearl Pacada, the estimated infrastructure and agriculture damages amount to P290 million and P150 million, respectively, in the whole province.
Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Corazon Soliman, Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio Singson, Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse Robredo, Communications (PCDSPO) Secretary Ricky Carandang, and Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) Director General Joel Villanueva accompanied the President in his visit.
