President Rodrigo Roa Duterte joined in the festivity of Davao del Norte’s Golden Jubilee celebration held at the province’s Sports and Tourism Complex in Tagum City.
With the theme, ‘Bulawanong Paghinumdum, Bulawanong Panlantaw’ (Golden Commemoration, Golden Vision), the Dabaonons celebrated the evolution, development and achievement of the province in the past fifty years, while capitalizing on and nurturing their proud heritage, enduring multicultural identity, resiliency and creativity in building a better future.
The grand celebration of the 50th founding anniversary of Davao del Norte is a nine-day festivity that started on June 23. Among the activities were the launch of Kadagayan Festival 2017 that featured an Agri-aqua Trade Fair, Tourism Fair, and various exhibits; the Binibining DavNor Pageant that highlighted the beauty, brain and talent of Dabaonon women; the Hudyaka Street Dancing and Grand Showdown; the MUSA MAN TriDavNor National Triathlon that promoted a healthier lifestyle while showcasing the scenic beauty of the province; football games; and variety shows.
President Duterte led the unveiling of the commemorative stamp of Davao del Norte’s 50th founding anniversary. He was assisted by Governor Anthony Rafael del Rosario and Postmaster General and CEO Joel Ottara of the Postal Corporation.
In his speech, President Duterte expressed his hopes for the province by saying, “Rest assured that the government remains committed in fulfilling its promise in giving an equal share of the national wealth to Mindanao including Davao del Norte. Use the money to uplift the lives of your people and realize its great potential… Indeed, I believe that Davao del Norte, under the command of Governor Del Rosario will continue to become one of the fastest growing provinces in Mindanao. With its vast resources and strong, resilient, and vibrant people, the province will able to achieve greater development at par with the rest of the nation!”
