President Rodrigo Roa Duterte met with the organizing agencies in a briefing on the substantive preparations for the upcoming 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Meetings in Manila from April 26-29, 2017.

ASEAN 2017 National Organizing Council (NOC) Director General for Operations Ambassador Marciano Paynor, Jr. opened the discussion and gave a rundown of the events that will take place upon the arrival of ASEAN leaders from the member-countries and other invited guests.

The President, being the ASEAN 2017 Chair, was also given updates on the latest development on the country’s ongoing hosting of the ASEAN summits and other meetings this year. Various conferences have already started in different parts of the country, like the recently concluded 15th Meeting of the ASEAN Senior Officials Responsible for Information (SOMRI) in Bacolod City.

Also present in the briefing were representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
