President Rodrigo Roa Duterte talked with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Defence Services, in a high tea hosted by the Chief Executive during his final day of visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

In his remarks, the President conveyed his friendship to Myanmar’s top military official and said that he looks forward to further strengthen the military relationship between the two countries in order to pursue cooperation in fighting transnational crimes and the illegal drug trade.

In recent years, bilateral defense cooperation between the two countries has been strengthened with the reciprocal establishment of the Philippines’ Office of the Defense and Armed Forces Attache in Yangon in 2014, and Myanmar’s Office of the Defence Attache in Manila in 2015.
