President Benigno S. Aquino III led the inauguration of the second phase of the Angat Water Utilization and Aqueduct Improvement Project (AWUAIP) in Lagro, Quezon City.

In his speech, the President said that the government has created an inter-agency committee on the water sector that will create a master plan. This plan will include the new facility of AWUAIP that was recently launched. President Aquino also stressed the importance of good governance that gave the government a dividend of 150 million pesos that was used for social services. He also reiterated the importance of water conservation and the cooperation of the private sector in supporting the government to reach the country’s potential of a better water system.

The P5.3 billion aqueduct improvement project will ensure the safety of raw water conveyance from the Angat Dam to La Mesa Dam up to the treatment plant in Balara, thus improving the water services for almost 15 million residents of the Metropolitan Manila area.
