President Rodrigo Roa Duterte received Agusan del Norte Governor Maria Angelica Rosedell Amante-Matba in a meeting at Malacañan Palace.
The governor met with the President to seek financial assistance after several towns in Agusan del Norte had been submerged in floodwater caused by the inclement weather due to the tail end of a cold front. She also sought the help of the President on several infrastructure projects such as the construction of a bridge at the Las Nieves and road rehabilitation projects.
Since Wednesday (January 25, 2017), the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) placed the whole province of Agusan del Norte and CARAGA region under a state of calamity brought about by severe flooding.
In the latest report released by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), over 72,000 families in a total of 517 barangays in Regions VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XII, CARAGA and ARMM had been affected by the weather disturbances, and a total of over Php 363 million worth of damages to infrastructure and agriculture has been recorded.
