President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) Meeting at the Heroes Hall in Malacañan Palace.

NAPC Secretary Liza Maza gave a point-by-point presentation on the agency’s thrusts and direction under President Duterte’s administration of which she hopes would go hand-in-hand with the National Economic and Development Authority’s (NEDA) Philippine Development Plan.

Likewise, NAPC Vice Chairperson Ruperto Aleroza gave the top five cross-sectoral and sectoral priorities that NAPC would concentrate on, as well as the seven priority bills that include the Freedom of Information (FOI) Bill.

Moreover, President Duterte followed up on his instruction to convert Php 1 billion of his social funds for a program that would provide free medicine for the poor. Secretary Maza said they are currently working on it with the Commission on Audit (COA), and have even come up with a name “LINGAP,” which stands for Libreng Gamot para sa Masang Pilipino. At present, NAPC is giving out free medicines for the poor from the agency’s funds.

Meanwhile, a plaque of manifesto of support for the government’s development agenda was presented to the President.
