President Rodrigo Roa Duterte attended an orchid naming activity in his honor at the Singapore Botanic Garden on the last day of his state visit.

Every head of state who visits Singapore is given the honor of a flower being named after the visiting leader. For President Duterte, the new hybrid orchid is named Dendrobium Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

During the activity, the President inspected the orchid with its bright violet-red colored petals. This orchid hybrid is from a Dendrobium Sonia Beauty and Dendrobium Urmila Nandey, and is decribed to be “compact, robust, and vigorous hybrid.”

The birth certificate of the flower was given to the President after the naming activity.
