President Rodrigo Roa Duterte highlighted the importance of visiting other ASEAN countries during the departure for his four-day state visits to the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Singapore at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 in Pasay City.
In his departure statement, the President said that his continued visit to other ASEAN countries is essential in getting the different views of each ASEAN member regarding policies to be discussed on the 30th and 31st ASEAN Summits, which will be hosted by the Philippines next year.
President Duterte also said that he would be speaking with King Norodom Sihamoni and Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia, as well as Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and other leaders of Singapore, to strengthen bilateral ties and economic partnership with these countries.
He also spoke about how Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) chairperson Andrea Domingo gave the administration five billion pesos as additional budget for government projects.
“Sabi ko sa DSWD na ibigay ko itong one billion for all of the Filipinos now today, to buy the medicines, ‘yung lahat ng Filipinong may hawak ng reseta from the PGH, mga government hospitals…”
He added that another P1-billion would be used to fund treatments and medicine for drug addicts.
