President Rodrigo Roa Duterte received Japanese Special Advisor to the Prime Minister Katsuyuki Kawai for a private meeting in Malacañang.

Upon his arrival, Mr. Kawai told the President how Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe vividly remembers the success of their bilateral talks during the Chief Executive’s visit in Japan in October.

President Duterte also expressed his admiration to Prime Minister Abe as an accomplished politician and how he appreciated talking to him because of his sincerity.

The two last met in June when Mr. Kawai was sent by Prime Minister Abe in Davao City to extend the former’s congratulations to the then President-elect Duterte.
