President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the inauguration and ceremonial switch-on of the 135-megawatt (MW) Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion (CFBC) Power Plant of the Palm Concepcion Power Plant (PCPC) held at the Rizal Hall of Malacañan Palace.

According to the official release of the PCPC, the power plant is located in Concepcion, Iloilo and has been contributing significantly to the power supply in the Visayas since its operation in August 2016.

“We need the power plants to drive our economy,” said President Duterte in his keynote address, as he shared how Davao City now enjoys a sufficient energy supply after suffering from power shortage many years back.

The CFBC Power Plant has generated a total of around $280 million worth of investments and is said to be one of the biggest projects in the province of Iloilo. At present, the plant delivers power generation supply to clients in Panay, Negros and the rest of the Visayas grid.

Speaking about his administration’s battle against the illegal drug trade, President Duterte showed a folder containing the names of the suspected drug dealers and users across the nation, and said that he will pursue those who will destroy his country and the youth with illegal drugs.

Also present during the event are Energy (DOE) Secretary Alfonso Cusi, PCPC President Roel Castro, and PCPC Chairman Dr. Walter Brown.
