State Visit of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte
to the People’s Republic of China

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte embarks on a four-day State Visit to the People’s Republic China from October 18-21, 2016 upon the invitation of the Chinese government.
This is the first time that the President would be visiting a country outside Southeast Asia and his second State Visit as President of the Republic of the Philippines.
President Duterte is scheduled to meet with the top officials of China namely, President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and Chairman Zhang Dejiang of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, before receiving and meeting with key personalities and business persons in a series of courtesy calls.
The President’s anticipated visit to China aims to further strengthen bilateral and trade relations between the two countries. It is expected that a number of business personalities would be attending the Philippine-China Trade and Investment Forum where the President is set to deliver a speech.
An exchange of development opportunities between the Chinese and Philippine companies is set to take place that would result to the signing of business contracts in addition to the expected government-to-government Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) and Memoranda of Agreement (MOA).
President Duterte would also take the opportunity to personally meet with the Filipinos in Beijing, China.
