President Rodrigo Roa Duterte spoke before the participants of the National Banana Congress held at the SMX Convention Center in Lanang, Davao City with the theme “New Frontiers for Inclusive Industry Growth.”
In his speech, the President said that Mindanao’s agricultural competence depends on the peace and order situation of the region. He added that “until, and unless we can put together a country free from revolutionary tax, taxation and extortion can we achieve global business (competence).”
The government is currently in its best foot forward in achieving peace through peace talks with the revolutionary fronts, the communists and the militants.
“It is either we succeed in the talks or we don’t move at all,” he said.
President Duterte appealed before the people to help him in the government’s fight against corruption and said that he will personally take action on the concerns of the people who will seek for his help to fight graft by the first quarter of 2017.
The Chief Executive also administered the oath taking of the PhilExport XI Board of Directors, while Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol assisted him in delivering the needs of banana growers and entrepreneurs, and hearing out their concerns.
