President-elect Rodrigo Roa Duterte received the ambassadors of South Korea, China and Japan in a series of courtesy calls at the Presidential Guest House in Davao City.
South Korean Ambassador Kim Jae-Shin extended the congratulatory message of President Park Geun-Hye to President-elect Duterte, saying the government of South Korea is willing to further improve its ties with the new administration.
Chinese Ambassador Zhao Jianhua also met with President-elect Duterte for the second time. The Chinese diplomat visited the incoming president on May 16, where they talked about maintaining peaceful relations and mutual beneficial cooperation between the Chinese and Filipinos.
Likewise, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Katsuyuki Kawai represented Japanese Ambassador Kazuhide Ishikawa in his visit to the President-elect. He assured the incoming Chief Executive of Japan’s constant support to the Philippines, especially on issues concerning the territorial disputes in the West Philippine Sea.
