The Inaugural of Rodrigo Roa Duterte
16th President of the Philippines
Malacañan Palace
30 June 2016
History unfolds on June 30th 2016 as the nation witnesses the oath of office of Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the 16th President of the Philippines, in an inauguration ceremony at Malacañan Palace.
At exactly 12:00 noon, the President-elect will be sworn into office by Supreme Court Justice Bienvenido L. Reyes, in front of more than 600 guests at the Rizal Ceremonial Hall.
The incoming leader will deliver his inaugural speech after the administration of oath of office and will be accorded full military honors by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Filipino voters within the country and overseas gave their overwhelming mandate to Duterte in the May 2016 polls with 16,601,997 votes. From a reluctant candidate, he now rises to become the 16th Chief Executive of the Office of the President.
Since being officially proclaimed, thousands of well-wishers and supporters have been traveling to Davao City to personally extend their congratulations to Duterte. These include the members from the diplomatic corps, business executives, sectoral groups, and government officials.
Apart from the inaugural ceremony, the incoming President will host a reception for the diplomatic community, lead the mass oath-taking of all his appointed Cabinet Members, and preside his first Cabinet meeting as Chief Executive.
