Pasay City and Parañaque City Boundary
6 May 2016
President Benigno S. Aquino III led the inspection of one of the top priority projects of the government, the NAIA Expressway (NAIAx) Phase II Project, in the boundary of Pasay City and Parañaque City.
The NAIA Expressway Phase II Project aims to alleviate the existing and address future traffic problems in going to and from the country’s major gateways, which are the Manila International Airport and Ninoy Aquino International Airport Complex.
NAIAx will benefit 80,000 travelers per day and is expected to reduce travel time from the Skyway to Terminals 1 and 2 from 34 minutes to eight minutes. Aside from decongesting the EDSA network, it will also improve access to and from the southern cities of Metro Manila and provinces of Cavite and Batangas through Cavitex.
The project alignment has a 5.4-kilometer of four-lane main viaduct that starts at the end point of the NAIA Expressway I at Sales Avenue, Andrews Avenue, Electrical Road, NAIA Road to Macapagal Avenue. It has entry and exit ramps at NAIA Terminal 1, 2, and 3, Cavitex and PAGCOR Entertainment City. The project has direct connection to Parañaque City along Imelda Avenue and will have seven toll plazas.
The P26-billion Phase II-A and Phase II-B projects are expected to be operational by June 2016 and September 2016, respectively.
President Aquino was joined by Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio ‘Babes’ Singson, Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya, San Miguel Corporation senior vice president and SMHC Infrastructure head Lorenzo Formoso III, DMCI president Jorge Consunji and Pasay City and Parañaque City local government officials.
