Thousands of men and women in yellow warmly welcomed President Benigno S. Aquino III as he met with the local leaders and the community of Ligao City in Albay.
In his remarks, the President highlighted the administration’s accomplishments in the province, enumerating the increase in the number of beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), which rose from 12,422 to 77,536 in Albay alone; an increase in the number of PhilHealth beneficiaries which climbed to 1.8 million members under his administration; and the completion of 2,577 classrooms in Albay.
In the infrastructure sector, President Aquino emphasized the recently completed Yawa Bridge and the Tibu Pumping Station in Legazpi City. He also stressed the outlook of other countries to the Philippines from being the “Sick Man of Asia” to “Asia’s Rising Tiger,” and the increase in the collection of sin tax that will be utilized for health related programs.
President Aquino enthusiastically greeted the people as he departed the venue.
