President Benigno S. Aquino III led the inaugural drive-through of the 17.4-kilometer Lipa-Alaminos Road, which provides a shorter link between Lipa City in the province of Batangas and San Pablo City in the province of Laguna.

The road, which benefits 540,000 residents in Batangas and Laguna, reduced the travel time from 45 minutes to 20 minutes between Brgy. Marawoy in Lipa City and Brgy. San Agustin in Alaminos City. It will likewise serve 1,639 vehicles per day.

According to Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson, the Aquino administration has alloted a budget amounting to 16.2 billion pesos for various infrastructure projects in entire Batangas. Ninety percent of it is already acquired while 556 kilometers of the national roads in the province are all paid. DPWH is currently planning to construct a diversion road that will link Batangas Pier to Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) Tollway which is a two to four-lane 42-kilometer expressway in the province.

Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto and other local officials of Batangas also joined President Aquino in a short program held at Lumbang National High School in Lipa City.
