President Benigno S. Aquino III witnessed the ceremonial distribution of an enhanced primary care package known as “Tamang Serbisyo sa Kalusugan ng Pamilya” (TSeKAP) to ten selected recipients from Regional Health Units (RHUs) and Barangay Health Stations (BHS) at People’s Park in Iba, Zambales.
Health Secretary Janette Garin led the distribution of the medical package containing two noncontact thermometers, stethoscope, digital blood-pressure apparatus, glucometer set, dressing set, two nebulizers and a plastic container.
In his speech, President Aquino emphasized that TSeKAP is one of the government efforts to improve the health services in the country. “Sa tulong nito, nabibigyang lakas at kakayahan ang ating mga LGU na agarang makatugon sa mga nangangailangan ng atensyong medikal,” he said.
He then witnessed the launching of the Dengue Vaccine School-Based Immunization to a nine-year old grade school pupil. The activity forms part of the DOH’s National Immunization Program to provide free dengue vaccine to indigent public school students in three regions in the country with the highest dengue incidence, including the National Capital Region (NCR), Regions III (Central Luzon) and IV-A (CALABARZON).
“…Pinalawak po natin itong ating National Immunization Program, para maging ang ating mga pampublikong ospital, may access na sa mga bakunang ito. Sa tulong po nito, malaki raw ang mababawas natin sa hospitalization,” he said
The Philippines is the second country to receive licensure of Dengvaxia, the first dengue vaccine in the world. The DOH has alloted P3.5 billion for the said vaccine.
