Grace Park, Caloocan City
30 March 2016
President Benigno S. Aquino III led the inauguration of the two newly built multi-story school buildings of Grace Park Elementary School in Caloocan City.
The event highlighted the administration’s “Matuwid na Daan sa Silid Aralan” School Building Project, a PhP 12 billion program to build approximately 6,500 classrooms around the country, funded by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The program was made possible through partnerships with the Department of Education (DepEd) by selecting the schools in dire need of more classrooms, and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) by constructing the said needed school buildings.
Over 185,000 classrooms throughout the country are expected to be built before the end of President Aquino’s term.
Also present during the event are some of Caloocan’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries, with the President citing that the program now benefits 31,510 households within the city.
“Bahagi na po sila ng 4.4 milyong kabahayang benepisyaryo ng Pantawid Pamilya sa buong bansa. At ayon nga po sa inisyal na mga pag-aaral, 7.7 milyong indibidwal na ang natulungan ng programa na makatawid sa tinatawag na poverty line,” President Aquino said.
