The Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) two newly acquired fighter-trainer jets FA-50 “Fighting Eagle” escorted President Benigno S. Aquino III’s chartered flight when it entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) en route to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal II. This was after his successful attendance in the Special US-ASEAN Summit and Working Visit in the United States of America where he unlocked several investment opportunities.

The two units were procured as part of the AFP’s P18.9 billion defense acquisition project signed on February 2014. The remaining units will be delivered on 2016.
