Cenotaph of the War Dead in the Philippines

Their Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan visited the Japanese Memorial Garden in Caliraya, Laguna and met with the families of World War II fallen Japanese soldiers.

The Imperial couple laid a wreath of white chrysanthemums, the Imperial symbol of Japan, and offered a prayer in front of the Cenotaph of the War Dead in the Philippines.

Apart from talking to the relatives of the Japanese war dead, Their Majesties also spoke with two surviving Japanese soldiers who fought in the war namely, 90-year old Morita Yoshikazu and 95-year old Minoru Matsumoto.
