President Benigno S. Aquino III personally congratulated the newly crowned Ms. Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach during her courtesy call in Malacañan Palace.

In a press conference that followed shortly after their meeting, Wurtzbach said that the President and her exchanged congratulations to each other, with her winning the crown and with the President’s successful term.

Wurtzbach also called on the Filipinos to get to know the presidential candidates and to vote the right people for the post. “Dapat magaan sa loob mo yung kung sino bobotohin mong pangulo,” she added. When asked how her ideal man would be like, Wurtzbach revealed: smart and with a sense of humor.

Following her HIV/AIDS awareness advocacy, Wurtzbach shared her plans to have herself tested when she goes back to New York and she hopes that other people, especially the youth, will follow suit. She also confirmed her hosting gig as part of Inside Edition’s coverage of the Super Bowl 50.

With her winning the Ms. Universe crown, Wurtzbach is positive that the Filipinas are now finally getting the recognition they deserve in the international stage.

Formerly known as Pia Alonzo during her stint in Philippine showbiz as part of the Star Magic Talents, the 26-year-old was crowned Ms. Universe 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she topped 79 other candidates across the globe. She is now the third Filipina to bring home the crown after 42 years, following in the footsteps of Gloria Diaz in 1969, and Margie Moran in 1973.
