Mandurriao, Iloilo City
14 September 2015

President Benigno S. Aquino III visited the province of Iloilo to lead the ceremonial launch of the 72-hectare Iloilo Business Park that is envisioned to be the next central business district in Iloilo City.

Developed by Megaworld Corporation, the Iloilo Business Park is modelled after the company’s ‘live-work-play-learn’ lifestyle and is poised for continuing development in the next ten years.  Megaworld is investing P35 billion for its biggest venture in Western Visayas, following its successful townships in Eastwood City, known as the country’s first cyberpark located in Libis, Quezon City; McKinley Hill in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City; and Newport City, home of the famous Resorts World Manila, in Pasay City.

Together with Megaworld Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Andrew Tan, the President viewed the Iloilo Business Park Township Scale Model and unveiled its marker.  He also received the township key from Dr. Tan.

While at the business park, the President inaugurated Richmonde Hotel Iloilo, a 151-business room hotel that was opened on July 2015.  It supports the tourism initiatives of the government by satisfying the boost in business and leisure travel not only in Iloilo province but in the Western Visayas region in the coming years.

He was also given a tour inside the hotel and was ushered to the seventh floor where the View Deck and various function rooms are located.

President Aquino was accompanied by Senate President Franklin Drilon, Agriculture (DA) Secretary Proceso ‘Procy’ Alcala, Health (DOH) Secretary Janette Garin, Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento, Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio ‘Babes’ Singson, Tourism (DOT) Secretary Ramon ‘Mon’ Jimenez, local officials of Iloilo and the top executives of Megaworld Corporation.
