President Benigno S. Aquino III visited the wake of Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary Francis Varela who died Saturday morning (29 August 2015) from a highway motorcycle accident along Baras, Rizal.

The late DepEd undersecretary was appointed by President Aquino in 2010. He graduated magna cum laude in Mathematics at Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City and finished his Master of Science in Industrial Economics at the Center for Research and Communication.
