Following his interaction with the JobStart Philippines youth beneficiaries earlier, President Benigno S. Aquino III went to the University of Cebu Medical Center (UCMed) to personally inspect its new facilities.

Ushered by UCMed President Candice Gotianuy, President Aquino proceeded to the fourth floor of the hospital building for a walking-briefing and assessed the following: Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CT-ICU), Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab), and operating rooms.

UCMed is a project launched in September 2012 and will formally open on the second quarter of 2015. It is built on a 1-hectare property in Mandaue City and houses state-of-the-art medical equipment and facilities known to be the first in Southeast Asia.

Among these are the fully-integrated 3D Endoalpha Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) Operating Room which utilizes the most advanced systems integration, and the 3D Mammography with Tomosynthesis which can lower radiation exposure, improves cancer diagnosis by 40%, reduces false postitve reading by 30% and recalls shots by 15%.
