“Napakalaki po ng ambag ng industriya ng semento sa nangyayaring sunod-sunod na pagtatayo ng imprastraktura, saanmang sulok ng Pilipinas,” said President Benigno S. Aquino III when he inaugurated the expansion project of CEMEX Philippines in Naga, Cebu.
In his third and final stop on Labor Day, President Aquino stressed in his keynote address the contributions of CEMEX Philippines to the Filipino nation. To count, its P3 billion expanded facility gave employment to 800 individuals upon its construction and hired 950 individuals upon its operation.
In addition, its mill facility has a capacity to produce 1.5 million metric tons of cement per year, giving boost to the 4 million metric tons of cement being produced by the entire plant.
“Sa lahat ng ito, talaga naman pong sulit ang pag-iikot, dahil nakikita natin ang mga bunga ng ating pagsisikap na iangat ang buhay ng ating mga Boss. Nagagalak po tayong makita ang resulta ng Daang Matuwid, lalo pa ngayong Araw ng Paggawa,” he said.
CEMEX is a leading global producer of cement and ready-mix products. It entered the country in 1997 by buying into Rizal Cement Company, Inc. At present, CEMEX Philippines operates the Solid Cement Plant in Rizal and APO Cement Plant in Cebu.
