President Benigno S. Aquino III inaugurated the Negros First Rice Processing Center (NFRPC) in Bago City, Negros Occidental where he led the unveiling of the building’s project marker.

The President inspected the facility together with Agriculture (DA) Secretary Proceso Alcala, Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio “Jun” Abaya, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director General Joel Villanueva, Health (DOH) Secretary Janette Garin, and Communications (PCOO) Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma.

NFRPC is the most advanced rice processing facility in the region that boasts top-of-the-line machinery including mechanical dryers and one biomass furnace which helps in minimizing post-harvest losses of farmers from an average of 16% down to 8-10%, thus increasing rice productivity. It has a capacity of processing up to 10 tons of rice per hour.
