President Benigno S. Aquino III arrived in Malaysia at 3:40 pm on board Philippine Airlines flight PR001 to participate in the 26th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit from 26-28 April 2015.

He was met at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport by Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Jose Eduardo Malaya, SSupt. Charlo Collado and other embassy officials and staff from the Malaysian government.

Meanwhile, present for the Philippine delegation were Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Albert Del Rosario, Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Cesar Purisima, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Director-General and Socio-Economic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, Presidential Management Staff (PMS) Secretary Julia Andrea Abad, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma and Secretary to the Cabinet Jose Rene Almendras.

As reflected in their theme: “Our People, Our Community, Our Vision”, Malaysia aims to have a people-oriented and people-centered ASEAN. The realization of such is considered a significant milestone for this year’s summit which is initially outlined in a roadmap for an ASEAN Community from 2009 to 2015.
