President Benigno S. Aquino III received the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani, in a courtesy call at Malacañan Palace, to discuss issues on the peace process.

Present during the courtesy call were Secretary Teresita Quintos-Deles, Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, Justice Secretary Leila De Lima, National Security Adviser Cesar Garcia, National Commission on Muslim Filipinos Secretary Yasmin Busran-Lao, and Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Rafael Seguis.

Accompanying the Secretary General were Ambassador Sayed Kassem El-Marsy, Special Envoy for Peace in Southern Philippines and Dr. Hassan Ahmad Abdein, Head of Muslim Minorities and Communities Department.

Being the second largest inter-governmental after the United Nations, the OIC was created on 25 September 1969 and is the collective voice of the Muslim world. It ensures the promotion of international peace and harmony among various people all over the world. Madani assumed office on January 2014 and is serving as the tenth Secretary General of the organization.
