Six infrastructure projects were approved during the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board Meeting led by President Benigno S. Aquino III at the Aguinaldo State Dining Room in Malacañan Palace.
Among the projects are the Panguil Bay Bridge Project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) which comprises the construction of a bridge across Panguil Bay that connects Tangub City in Misamis Occidental and Tubod in Lanao del Norte; Phase 1 of the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Project and the North-South Railway Project which will be implemented by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC); and three Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects which are the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) Project, the NLEX-SLEX Connector Project and the Cavite-Laguna Expressway Project.
According to NEDA Director-General and Socio-Economic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, “These projects will support the government’s goal of increasing infrastructure spending to at least 5.1 percent in 2016. We hope that they will be implemented efficiently and effectively.”
