The ten leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), including President Benigno S. Aquino III, met their fellow leaders from China, Japan and South Korea in the 17th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit held at the Myanmar International Convention Center (MICC).
The meeting saw the ASEAN leaders expressing their appreciation to the APT for their support to the ASEAN Community Master Plan as well as their cooperation in political, economic and socio-cultural areas.
Other topics that were tackled included the enhancement of the APT partnership, maintaining the SEAN Plus Three economic cooperation, development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), boosting the existing ASEAN Plus One Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), establishing a Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, energy and food security, and the establishment of the ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS).
