President Benigno S. Aquino III witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) held in Malacañan Palace.

The MOU is the first Philippine Systems & Technology R&D Laboratory that will help spur economic growth in the country. The joint agreement is in line with the priority projects of the Government based on the National Economic Development Authorities Medium Term Development. The Agreement also strives to contribute to the productivity of the Filipino people and improve their quality of life through the strategic technologies and expertise

It calls for the strategic growth initiative partnering between industry and government which focuses on the four critical areas: business process outsourcing, governance for anti corruption, talent development and innovation for a knowledge -based economy

Through this joint agreement the Filipinos are expected to accelerate their preparedness for the global market.The project is an example of an integrated joint approach in research which combines IBM’s global expertise with the skills and knowledge of the Filipino people.

IBM is the leading global provider of IT and business solutions. Celebrating its 75th year in the Philippines it collaborated with DOST in its research efforts and programs.
