Official Visit to Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A. 20-22 September 2014

From a three-nation visit to Europe, President Benigno S. Aquino III heads to the United States of America for an official visit.

His first stop is in Boston, Massachusetts from 20-22 September 2014.

He is set to meet with the Filipino community and lead the presentation of the recipient of the Benigno and Corazon Aquino scholarship at Boston College, as well as attend a special mass and reception hosted by the academic institution.

The President is also scheduled for a series of business meetings and deliver a policy speech at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

It was in Boston, Massachusetts that the Aquino family spent their time together while former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. was in a three-year exile during martial law. The senator was permitted to leave the Philippines for a triple bypass operation in the United States.

While in Boston, Ninoy accepted fellowships from Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) Center for International Affairs, and held lectures at various institutions.

From Boston, President Aquino proceeds to New York to continue his official visit to the United States.
