President Benigno S. Aquino III led the Agenda Setting Dialogue with partners from public and private sectors to discuss certain matters concerning the further strengthening of major reforms for the country.
In his speech, President Aquino mentioned several issues, such as energy crisis, Manila’s port congestion, the Metro Rail Transit system failure (MRT), and the peace and order across the nation, which according to him, need immediate action and effective solution to benefit the Filipino people. He considers these four major agenda as priority and should be addressed as soon as possible.
To address the energy problem, the administration is in ties with the Senate and the Congress to pass a Joint Resolution allowing them to make contract with other energy sectors for additional generation capacity. As to the port congestion, President Aquino said that the government will continue its coordination with the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Manila to continue the law being implemented, one of which is the P5,000 fine for every port violators. Moreover, 48 new MRT trains are expected to operate soon to help lessen the burden of every commuter.
He called on to every Filipino to continue on believing in the ‘Tuwid na Daan,’ saying that the Philippines is still on the right path, and that the effects of it to the nation are very clear. Likewise, he asked for the continuous support of his administration to carry on with the plans that would help in the development of the people.
In the end, President Aquino remained firm to his belief that the Filipino is worth fighting for.
