President Benigno S. Aquino III led the opening of the “History and Her Story” exhibit honoring former President Corazon Aquino that will be on display at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati City until August 10th.

In his statement, President Aquino remembered the strength and hope displayed by his parents against odds and how it became a source of strength for him and his family. He added that the examples shown by his parents were always his source of comfort, and that their memory guides him on how to best serve the Filipino people. The President also stressed that as inheritors of a democracy which was won through the sacrifices of Filipinos, it is our responsibility to help the young understand the lessons of the past.

The exhibit, which is in commemoration of her fifth death anniversary, showcases the life of the late President Corazon Aquino. It depicts her years as the country’s first lady President, her married life with the late Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., her school years, and the peaceful People Power Revolution that toppled martial rule and made the Philippines known throughout the world.
