President, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
Hiroshima, Japan

25 June 2014

Dr. Akihiro Tanaka is currently the President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), replacing Sadako Ogata who retired in 2012.

As soon as he assumed office, Mr. Tanaka immediately flew to the Philippines for his first international trip as JICA President to attend the Asian Development Bank Meeting. He had been in the country several times in support of the Peace negotiation and at the wake of Typhoon Haiyan’s devastation in Eastern Visayas.

JICA together with Universiti Sains Malaysia (REPUSM) and in partnership with the Bangsamoro Transition Commission have initiated a month-long peace building training seminar for the Moro Islamic Liberation Front in Hiroshima University.
